Elderly couple found murdered at Keraikela in West Singhbhum

An elderly couple was found lying murdered in their living quarters in a village under Keraikela thana area of ​​West Singhbhum district about 100 km away on Monday morning.

Identified as Sakari Diggi (65) and his wife Badhgi Diggi (60) were murdered in their sleep on Monday night.

The gruesome incident took place in Koljomko village of Chakradharpur sub-division, so the police had to find out the cause of the murders.

OC, Keraikela Thana, Deepak Kreation said unknown assailants killed the couple using farm equipment, but the reason for the murder was yet to be determined.

“The Munda of the village informed us about the incident after other villagers saw the bodies lying in the living quarters where they were sleeping due to excessive temperature. Initially, we suspected that it was a witch hunt, but after inquiring the villagers, nothing like that came up,” he said.

The OC pointed out that there was no one else in the family of the victims of the murder, the murders could have been plotted in connection with the victims' lands, adding that investigations were on.
